Hi, my friend has an old Compaq Prosignia 200 166Mhz (The sticker on the
side says Prosignia 5/166 M2500 1NT 8733BMW30208).
On boot-up it displays something like - 172 nonvolatile memory knackered
run set up configuration, press F10 for configuration utitlity.

I have been given a Presario 5000US with a 700Mhz  Duron CPU, 30G hhd, 256M
dimm.  I would like to upgarde those items.  What are the highest power CPU,
largest hhd and memory I can put in this computer?
Any help is appreicated.

I upgraded from winXP home to winXP Pro.  My DVD didn't like the
transition, I get overlay failures in InterVideo winDVD gold 5.
compaq chat help, not too helpful yet. Any one have any hints or

I need a driver for a 3dfx video card.  There is no model on it and the FCC
ID is 210-0383-001.  There is a chip in the center that says 3dfx
355-0025-001.   It looks like a 16 MB card.  I need the driver for Windows
98.  I pulled the card from a Compaq Presario 5900Z.

I've DL the SP2824.EXE (I had to use a Mac w OS 9 to access the internet)
I've tired using the file on a flopy with the 4770 during boot up -- no joy.
I've tried copying the file to a flopy then executing on a pc in the DOS
mode -- no joy.

I got a Compaq presario 2210 to install reinstall windows 98.
I want to boot from the windows cd, but how do I come into the bios?  Only
the logo from Compaq appear on the screen and then start window. F2, F8 and
Del  doesn't start open the bios.

So what's the fastest CPU, how much memory, and how big of a hard
drive can this thing take?  It appears according to compaq it's 256MB
of PC-100 and 120GB hard drive, unless someone else has some unoffical
information.  Not sure about the CPU though.  Thanks.

Can someone give me the lowdown on the CPU and heatsink in the Presario
5423US?Is it true that the heatsink is glued shut,and has a non-standard
connector?I presently have a 1.6 Pentium 4,and I'll be damned if I'll pay
over $800 for the 2.0 upgrade that Compaq wants,especially when ...

I am trying to salvage some data from a Compaq 5192  hdd . I put
the hdd into another PC, and BIOS checks the drive ok. Windows on the
other hand does not recognize the parition. I guess its because of the compaq
paritition on the hdd ?

I was just wondering if it is possible to add a wireless pci card to
this puter.  There have been no other cards added.  Thanks in advance,

Hallo, does anyone knows how to install win98 an a presario 4620 machine.
Is it a special version or is any win98 cd good. I don't have any drivers
for the presario :( I had to format the machine and can't install windows.
PC stops as windows copy the installfiles.

I have a Deskpro En PIII733. Whether using the onboard sound or a separate
soundcard the sound is played fast, approximately 1.5 times normal speed. I
have replaced the CD drive with a CDRW unit and replaced IDE and audio
cables. I cannot find any mention of this on Compaq support ...
