I have my desktop connected, via ethernet and crossover cable, to my laptop. The network setup works fine. Both are using WinXP Pro SP1. I have a large 4GB file on my laptop in My Documents that I want to transfer to my desktop. Where do I put the file in order to access it

I need to know if adsl works like a dial-up connection, or if it is "bound" to the specific phoneline. If I packed my adslmodem, the splitter, etc., and took it to someone else's house, could I use my adsl connection over their phoneline as with a dial-up?

Ok, the theory is to run real-time full motion video down gigabit ethernet, like having a TiVo in one room, and watching it on a TV in the next, but over ethernet instead of losing quality over s-vid/RCA's or coax, and of course not dropping to analog until the TV - or even at all

Used to hear Linksys were the best, but then heard of some security issues. I think they released and update/fix, and haven't heard anything since so I assume that means it worked. But, I've also heard Netgear is better.
