I have a Linksys WAP54G wireless access point and a   WPC54G notebook
adaptor.  The access point is mounted on the wall near the ceiling
around the center of my house. I often use the laptop at either end of
the house, around 20 feet from the access point.  I am getting around

I am new to this newsgroup and I hope someone can help me.   I have

Cable-less access point?30 Jan 2005 15:52 GMT3
I have a little theoretical question that needs answering.
I'm trying to set up a wireless network, a quite big one. Therefore I
figured that I needed some access points to enforce the signal.
However, I believe that most access points cannot connect directly to
Ethernet to USB (NOT USB to Ethernet), does it exist?29 Jan 2005 07:19 GMT6
I've got an old computer (so old it's gotta run W95) with no USB, but I do
have a working Ethernet card for it.  I'm wondering if Ethernet to USB is
possible.  Every adapter I've ever seen is the other way around (USB to
Ethernet).  Am I S.O.L.?

I'm looking to hardwire two home.  What brand / style of crimpers and rj-45

plates will be used.
Thanks
mix 'n match wiFi25 Jan 2005 22:40 GMT2
This is a general and perhaps stupid question so my apologies in
advance.  I am new to wireless.
Let's say, for example, I want to make a 54g wireless network with a
54g wireless router and several 54g wireless cards.  Do all of these
efficiency of Ethernet?22 Jan 2005 15:28 GMT7
Well, I got a laptop with both a Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port on it.
Usually I'm using Wi-Fi unless I need to do something really intensive
between two computers within my home network, such as printing or file
transfer when I switchover to Ethernet. Now although 100BT Ethernet is
Netgear WGR614 Wireless Router: Intermittant loss of connectivity using 802.11g22 Jan 2005 07:24 GMT11
I've been going crazy trying to figure this one out.
I have a Netgear WGR614 Cable/DSL Wireless Router 54 Mbps/2.4 GHz that I
bought in early 2004. At the time, I only had 802.11b cards in our laptops,
and everything worked fine.

I have a homebuilt XP MCE 2005 machine that doesn't seem to like any NICs.
The box is built from an MSI 865PE Neo2 MB, 1G RAM, 2 - 200 G WD hard

Nvidia 5900SE. I'm connecting through a hub and I've checked ...
signal strength comparison between 802.11 routers18 Jan 2005 22:22 GMT2
Anyone know where I can see published a comparative study of the signal
strength of various routers?
I am having what I suspect are everyone's problems with transmitting a
signal through a few thin walls in an 80s building and (for example) Buffalo
what do i need to do this?  seperating office networks, at least in one direction.14 Jan 2005 03:42 GMT1

Upgrading my router and a Windows network11 Jan 2005 11:13 GMT1
I have a home network setup using an 802.11 B router and three computers.
I would like to upgrade the router with a newer 802.11 G type.
If I "swap" the routers and set it up to connect to the internet, would the
new router recognize and pickup the existing network, or do I need to ...

Difference between 108 routers and Linksys 54g 35% speed booster09 Jan 2005 18:15 GMT2
I want to buy a wireless router.  I am confused about the difference between
the 108 mbps routers and the linksys 54g with speed booster 35% higher.
It seems that this linksys 54g 35% speed booster is the faster they have,
but I see many other brand 108 mbps routers....  the ...
