DHCP hands out duplicate IP Addresses29 Jun 2004 19:31 GMT4
I run a home LAN using an Alcatel Speedtouch 510 ADSL Router and I'm
using its inbuilt DHCP server. This works fine, but I've just added a
new PC to the LAN and I'm having some problems. What appears to be
happening is that the SIS 900 Ethernet devices on the 2 newest
Connect Two PC's Remotely29 Jun 2004 16:54 GMT1
What I'm trying to achieve is, connecting two PC's which are in
different buildings about 100 meters apart.
I've tried linking them with 100 meter bluetooth dongles without
success. I believe this is because bluetooth is for indoors only.

Proxy Server vs. SPI Router28 Jun 2004 16:04 GMT2
I'm trying to read up on comparing a proxy server (such as WinProxy) with
NAT routers with stateful packet inspection (SPI).  So, I'm very much in a
learning mode.
My problem is this:

Router Setup28 Jun 2004 05:06 GMT3
I have a problem in that I do not know the best way to set up a
router/firewall on a Windows NT network using Small Business Server.
What I would like to do is to have the router attached to the switch
and have a dialup modem attached to the router for interent access.
Network diagnostics28 Jun 2004 05:04 GMT3
Are there any free network diagnostic programs out there to test the
speed of my home network?  If so, where can I get them?

movie clips in the past the speed of the download has gotten as high

Networking two RJ-45 drops28 Jun 2004 04:53 GMT5
This may be a very trivial question, but I'm at my wits end. I have
a run of straight through cat5 cable that terminates into two RJ-45
connectors, one on each end. One end needs to go into a Netgear FS116
switch, the other end, is for a PC. I have determined that the run of
Qwest DSL won't let my D-Link 704P gateway online27 Jun 2004 20:22 GMT2
Has anyone ever used DSL through a D-Link gateway?
I am a dumbass about networking!
I got Qwest DSL last week and it works great as long as the DSL modem
ethernet cable is jacked directly into my main PC's ethernet card.
