Snap Server 1000 inaccessible31 May 2004 00:16 GMT1
I have a Snap Server 1000 that I use for back-ups and transfers on a
home network.  I was doing some large file transfers and it went all
wacky.  I ran administrative tools through the browser interface; the
browser locked up, and the Snap Server has not been accessible on the

somehow we got this far and connected with 2 machines on a vpn over the net,
both running Win XP Pro,
but that's about as far as it goes, drives are shared and can only be seen
on each LAN but not over the VPN.

I just installed a Buffalo Systems WLAR L-11   802.11b network and although
I had slight problems getting the Buffalo PC card to work (which I cured in
3 seconds by putting in an Orinoco Silver one) the connection worked
perfectly and immediately and without configuration in Windows ...

How come that i can only access my shared drives/ files on the network if i
enable the ipx/spx protocol, while my brother (other, and different network)
has no problem whatsoever
for speed purpose i want to get rid of the old protocol ipx/spx

I'm setting up a home network and was wondering if it's possible to
set up a switch between the cable modem and 2 computers so that both

I could need some help with an old IBM 750 System Series PC (Model
6887-XAG). I would like to use my 3COM 3c905C-TX with its Wake-On-LAN
feature. Now to the problem: the 3Com-Card has a 3-Pin WOL-Connector
but there is only a 2-Pin Connector.

to analoge one so it can be sent thro internet. Or these days
everything is digital??

My son has a wireless network.  It has a D-link 802.11b router and the
computer with the wireless connection has a usb wireless adaptor.
Now the problem, there are three wireless networks in his neighborhood, so
how can I make the wireless computer always connect to his network?

When i add a wireless network on my computers
- i run network wizard
- Then i select Other in the Select the statement that best describes this computer
- Then let me choose the connections to my network

My setup consists of 3 computers: an MPC 920i, used to setup the
system, and a Dell 8300, both hard-wired to a D-Link 514; and a
wireless-connected Toshiba laptop. I'm using Comcast cable modem
service, Windows XP, IE Explorer and Outlook Express. Everything works

I am reading these 2 questions and I do not understand the answers??
1) If a switch has 4 ports, how many broadcast domains does it have?

2) If a router has 4 ports, how many broadcast domains does it have?

I'm running Mcafee personal firewall on a computer behind a Linksys BEFSR41
cable modem router/switch.  This has worked fine for weeks.  All of a
sudden, when I booted up today, Mcaffee started logging attempted
unsolicited connections to ports 137 (NetBIOS Name) and 138 (NetBIOS
