Strange wireless problem: constant disk activity29 Sep 2009 21:22 GMT3
My sister has a strange problem with her wireless Internet connection on
Windows XP. I think it's related to the specific software that came with her
modem, but I haven't been able to pin it down.
Basically, the computer is constantly accessing the hard disk -- you can

Do all modems for wireless internet need a sim card?
If so can you copy a sim card you already have and use that?

Is it possible to get >150mbps with 11n on 2.4Ghz and 20Mhz?26 Sep 2009 22:59 GMT6
Although I posted a little awhile ago, asking whether or not to wait to
get some 11n equipment, I've been curious, and one of my laptops already
has an 802.11n adapter (an Intel 4965agn), and I was an 11n router on
sale (a Buffalo WHR-G300N), so I figured that I'd "dip my toes" ...

I have this router in my home.
I use the 5Gig channel as a wireless N network
and I use the 2.4GHz channel as a Mixed network, (B, G or N)
Both channels are set to WPA-2 with AES.

Is it worth buy "Draft-N" equipment now, or wait?19 Sep 2009 17:34 GMT5
I'm thinking of upgrading my wireless network equipment to "11n".  I
gather that there are "Draft-N 2.0" equipment (routers and adapters)
now, but I was wondering if it'd be better to wait until the "official"
adoption takes place and for "official" 11n-compliant equipment is

Vista's WIFI manager is very annoying! Any alternatives?16 Sep 2009 13:31 GMT3
I'm in an apartment building, there are 100s of AP's around here. When

every second or so, and sorting it by the strongest signal. So every
second the list updates and shifts around, new AP's show up on the top
