Last September I bought a Medion laptop with wireless LAN. I linked it up

Some sites I log into will show the lock icon in Internet Explorer as

Is there a device that is not a router that connects to a wired router
(via a cat 5 cable) and provides a wireless 802.11g access point?
What is the name of the device.  I want to search for one to buy but I
don't recall the name.

For the mostpart logging into a hotel's WiFi network is a simple
affair and it frequently just automatically connects as soon as firing
up my laptop. Sometimes I have to find any available networks and
request a connection. No problem!
