A couple of recent threads about the effects of  DSL (micro)filters gave me the
idea of analysing their effect under various conditions in a simulation package.
I've got several examples of filters of varying designs here and I'd really like
to know how much difference and indeed ...

I have to install Oracle at home and so far it is no go as I have a
dynamic IP.
Can anyone tell me if the Linksys BEFSR 41  would allow me to fake a
static IP?

I am going to Pittsburgh from Australia next week. I have already
found a place to stay. I want to know whether I can get internet
service (DSL) WITHOUT getting a landline from any company at all.
