The best down speed I was getting from DSLExtreme was 681 kbps. I contacted their technical support who, in turn, contacted Verizon, my telephone company. Verizon sent out a technician who found troubles in both their lines

You want to see evidence of pathetic Verizon OnLine Tech Support? Check out these actual conversations which took place over the past two months. Bottom line: Stay away from Verizon..... I made the switch to Comcast.....should have done this LONG ago!

I'm a heavy downloader and I seem to wear out my line every 6 months. Then Qwest has to give me a new line, everything is fine for another six months, and then it happens all over again because I wore it out. Is this scenario plausible?

Received a new Efficient Speedstream 5100b modem/router as part of an SBC offering -- fired it up last night & it was working just fine. Turned off my computers, left the modem on (all lights on the modem indicated that it was well - green).

I have Qwest standalone 1.5 Down / 864 Up DSL service at a store location that is near the distance limit from the CO. My connection is marginal, so my Cisco 678 is retraining quite frequently. Qwest has concluded that the best solution is to slow down the line.
