modelling of ADSL in Matlab31 Mar 2005 11:14 GMT2
I'm looking for any models of ADSL-based transmission in the Matlab
environment (Simulink?). Models of the link (symmetric pair + noises)
would be appreciated too.
Can anyone help me?
Any other tweaks?31 Mar 2005 01:40 GMT1
I have a '2 wire' 1800HG; firmware 3.7.1
I moved the modem to about 1 foot from the incoming twisted pair; and ran
cat5e from the modem to my computer. This bought me a bit of speed.
My current statistics are:
Do I need to do the Earthlink $10 Deal for Netowrking?30 Mar 2005 20:06 GMT4
I currently have an Earthlink DSL account, and my wife has an Earthlink
dial-up account.  She would now like to jump up and share my DSL,
utilizing her PowerBook's Airport card (we're both Mac users).  The
first place I researched was on the Earthlink support site, where they
If I can ping, why can't I PCAnywhere?29 Mar 2005 20:28 GMT4
I'm trying to access a remote PC that's on a dynamic DSL (Qwest)
using either PCAnywhere or MS Remore Desktop Connection. I can ping to
the remote PC using both the IP address and myname.dyndns.org. I cannot
get either PCAnywhere or Remote Desktop Connection to work.

Having trouble with Bell sympatico.  Everytime the phone rings it knocks the
modem out.  The DSL light goes out and then it must reset itself.
Filters are installed on every phone.  It does'nt seem to happen when we

NEW Dsl splitter technical question26 Mar 2005 17:31 GMT4
While awaiting Verizon to turn on the service, and looking at filters,
splitters, etc., it dawned on me that I probably want to run the
unfiltered dsl line only into the surge suppressor.  Since mine has
one input and two outputs, I then want to run one output to the dsl
DSL splitter technical question24 Mar 2005 15:48 GMT7
I am preparing for DSL, and have just added a Corning DSL pots splitter
where my service enters the house. The splitter has a Voice and a Data
output. The incoming went to the Network terminals. The existing house
phone wiring went to the Voice, and, from the Data terminals, I ran a
Verizon offers lower rates!  Why???22 Mar 2005 18:52 GMT8
Verizon just started offering current DSL subscribers in my area a
reduced rate of $29.95 p/mo w/1yr contract. It saves me almost $100 for
the year. The cynic in me cannot help but wonder who is coming to town
with better/cheaper service.

Am contemplating Verizon dsl.  My current dial-up ISP provides well
over 100K newsgroups.  Using dial up, is there a list I can get to to
see what groups Verizon offers?  Or, can someone tell me how many
groups they offer and how amenable they are to requests to add groups.
