Microsoft XP Sp2 and Verizon DSL Conflict30 Nov 2004 22:15 GMT3
My computer was recently overtaken with spyware and the only way we
could get rid of the problem was to do a fresh install of our PC.
After I install SP2 of XP my internet stops working properly.  It says
it is connected, I have an IP address, etc.  But when you go on IE or
telus adsl30 Nov 2004 10:58 GMT1
If I get and install a Telus ADSL modem ( complete with account of course )
will I be able to take my computer to the cottage ( it's in the same area
code and exchange ) and simply plug it in so that I don't get hit by or
limited by "roaming" charges ?
SBC-DSL Problems30 Nov 2004 10:54 GMT3
A years ago I signed up with SBC's DSL. It did not work the way it was
supposed to and wreaked havoc with my computer even though I was told
it would work just fine on my Windows 98 PC. I have several documented
pages of complaints and contacted tech supports on many occasions and
Qwest DSL without ISP?29 Nov 2004 17:05 GMT10
I recently ordered Qwest DSL with MSN but installed it without the MSN
part, yet everything seems to work fine.  Is this normal?  Is it
possible that my old dial-up ISP, CompuServe (budget AOL) is somehow
still working as the ISP, even though I uninstalled its software?

Use off-the-shelf DSL modems to extend ethernet?24 Nov 2004 16:23 GMT2
I'd like to know whether I could take two retail ADSL modems and use
them to extend an ethernet connection?
Since the phone company  can connect over 18,000 feet of twisted pair,
I thought that I could get at least half the distance.
Worth swtching to Verizon DSL (from Opt. Online) to save $5 per month???24 Nov 2004 04:41 GMT4
I recently moved locally from one North NJ town to another.  I had Optimum
Online at the old place and it worked great.  I currently have Optimum
Online cable at the new place and it also works great.   Based on some
testing I did, I think I get up to 3.5 megabits per second ...

Replacement for 586121 Nov 2004 13:11 GMT5
I have had a EN 5861 with what was Ameritech (now SBC) service for 3
years. The unit died about a week ago, and I bought an EN 5360. I am
having difficulties getting the 5360 to connect on a linux box (I get
"LCP terminated by peer" error), and I am concerned that maybe the
Weird Routing to Default Gateway (SBC+2Wire+CIDR/29 NETWORK)21 Nov 2004 13:11 GMT4

DSL setup on dual phone line installation19 Nov 2004 22:35 GMT2
I tried setting up a friend's DSL tonight. She has two phone lines and
ordered DSL on her #1 line from Cavalier (also my DSL provider). The sent
her a Paradyne Reach DSL modem which I believe is MVL. I plugged the modem
into the phone jack and connected the ethernet cable to her ...

Newbie - How does DSL login?19 Nov 2004 04:34 GMT3
We have 2 DSL connections right now.  Original was through Covad, an
ISDN/DSL I think they called it.  All worked fine.
We're switching over to a 'true' DSL through another provider.  They brought
in a new line and we're currently using that connection.  The problem is
New "DSL Pro" offer from SBC16 Nov 2004 15:17 GMT6
I just received an offer to upgrade to SBC Yahoo "DSL Pro" at a good
price. (see: http://sbc.com/upgradespeed)
Please note that I am still on "original Pacbell-style DSL" and I have
never upgraded to SBC Yahoo DSL.
Changing from room filters to a splitter - info?14 Nov 2004 11:58 GMT6
I just came back from a friend's house, we both have DSL.
My setup uses a single "splitter" at the network interface outside the house
(I was there when the installer put it in, but don't recall whether the
splitter is installed on "my side" of the network interface, or the phone
