My own DSL troubles (qwest & D-Link)30 Mar 2004 22:52 GMT4
First time poster in this newsgroup. I have DSL with Qwest. I've recently
purchased a D-Link DSL-100 PCI DSL modem.  Can't get it to work.
My ISP is theriver.com; they say they use "bridging", which I assume means

Linksys router needs multiple flashes?27 Mar 2004 02:20 GMT2
Last night I decided to upgrade my Linksys BEFSX41 router to the
latest (03/17/04) firmware version (1.50.9).  The router had been
working fine, but there was an annoying problem where a telnet
session with no activity would time out after 10 minutes.  And
actiontec 1524 port forwarding26 Mar 2004 04:12 GMT1
I just got QWest DSL, and I'm renting an Actiontec 1524 SU
modem/switch/router.  The router has a static IP address.  I have a
linux box connected to the switch with an IP address of 192.168.0.99.
The 1524 has port 22 (ssh) forwarded to the linux box.  From outside
Speedstream 5660 ? Using it as a front-end to an external Router (Bridged mode?) . . .26 Mar 2004 02:47 GMT2
Greetings all,
I have a Speedstream 5660 hooked up to a Qwest DSL line here in Minneapolis.
It has been working okay, but lacks UPnP functionality.
So, I purchased a D-Link DI-804HV, which does have UPnP functionality.
LinkSys BEFSR41 routers die in the long run?26 Mar 2004 01:07 GMT4
I bought two LinkSys BEFSR41 routers 1 to 2 years ago.  I was using both of
them at the same time because I had 5 computers.  They worked great through
several firmware upgrades and everything else.
Four months ago one of them died.  I stopped using it and disabled the fifth
How fast IS DSL?25 Mar 2004 21:31 GMT6
I'm planning on moving from the Netherlands to Texas (DFW area) this
year and am looking into stuff like an Internet provider. Is there a
website that can actually tell me what the DSL speed is that they
offer?
Speedport -need power supply25 Mar 2004 18:40 GMT1
Have found a fujitsu orckit Speedport, which
will about double my speed on my Verizon DSL.
The early, large, gray Orckit DSL modem maxes out
at 256Kbps or some such.
A long time ago in an Alcatel modem far far away...25 Mar 2004 16:46 GMT1
I recently bought a second hand Alcatel speedtouch
home modem. It appears like it was manufactured in
late 1999 or early 2000. It has a KHDSAA.132 version
firmware.

D-link 302g ADSL modem and D-Link 704p router22 Mar 2004 03:34 GMT1
I have my modem operating well with it connected directly to my PC via
ethernet cable.  PPPoE connection in bridged mode.
But, I want to plug my computers (2 of) into a D-Link 704p that I used
to use with my old 56k Modem.  The 704p has a serial and WAN
Actiontec 1524:  Incoming PPTP21 Mar 2004 00:44 GMT4
To get Actiontec 1524 to work with incoming PPTP:
1. In the Setup menu, enable VPN pass-through.  This is necessary for
outgoing PPTP connections, but I don't know if it is necessary for
incoming.
Hooking up DSL, what phone line is best?20 Mar 2004 16:42 GMT5
I'm hooking up DSL to a new home with new phone lines from the pole to
the house.  I am roughly 1 mile from the transfer station.  Verizon
hooked up a phone box to the side of the house and left it at that.
They wanted to charge 100+ dollars to hook up a phone jack, holy crap.
Beware of Verizon DSL if you want VOIP20 Mar 2004 16:40 GMT1
Just would like to remind you that verizon is bundling their phone line

I was cut of this week BY VERIZON DSL because I am not going to buy

DSL + powerline = 25 percent failure?19 Mar 2004 23:32 GMT7
Got a problem that I hope someone can diagnose.
I'm a recovering AOLer who just switched to AT&T DSL for two home
computers.  It wasn't practical to hardwire the two computers
together.  They're also two floors apart in a stone house, and the
