Need some insight please about RSU and Speakeasy.26 Nov 2003 23:11 GMT7
As some of you know Speakeasy/Covad is upgrading people for free and at
the same monthly price from 1500/384 to 3000/768 but not me.  Magically
they have said (after 30 months with them) that I am over 15000' and too
bad sucks to be me.  Well, when you go to dslreports and type in ...
Does low dialup connect speed guarantee low DSL speed?24 Nov 2003 22:23 GMT6
When I use my dialup line, I always get a 28.8 or lower connection.
I'm getting DSL installed next week, and I wonder if this bad quality
line means that my DSL speeds will be dignificantly impaired.
Is there any relationship between low modem connect speeds and
Is a router needed?21 Nov 2003 15:41 GMT4
For a SDSL connection to a dedicated web server, is a router needed?  The
server has 3 NIC's, normally I would use just one of the NIC's (SDSL
connection).  One of the other NIC's would be used for a temporary
connection to transfer and backup files on another machine.
IDSL speed ?21 Nov 2003 15:14 GMT1
Is IDSL limited to 144K ? Would IDSL tend to be available
in an area where ADSL is not ?
Thanks,
Wake up on lan21 Nov 2003 14:40 GMT1
Has any progress been made on getting WOL to work across subnets?
Wouldn't it be nice (tm) if the small routers for home networking
started including the feature to send magic packets?  It's two lines
of Perl and a MAC addr - seems doable.

DSL Modem/Router: Static internal IP (198.168.0.1)
Wireless Router: Uses DHCP to get it's external IP from my ISP; uses NAT
AT&T DSL with Linux?17 Nov 2003 21:42 GMT2
I am currently using a legacy Cicso 675e for my DSL connection,
connected to a floppyfw Linux firewall. I received a promotional
notice from AT&T DSL, saying that their service was available.
I've already hit google groups & dslreports.

Will you share your rules?  Westell Model 2100 NAT Router15 Nov 2003 19:06 GMT7
I am trying to figure out the Westell 2100 firewall rules for user
mode.  Their docs leave a lot to be desired, their example could not
be much more ambiguous.
I would be very grateful if someone would be willing to share their
Distance/Speed Problem SOLVED!!!!15 Nov 2003 00:03 GMT1
FINALLY found the fix for my speed issues.  I'm around 18,000 feet from the
CO.  Two other Verizon techs came out to test my line and they both said I
was "just too far".
Part 1:  Well, I finally had the third tech come out last week and he found
Disconnecting from Verizon DSL14 Nov 2003 20:17 GMT1
Like many others I could not stand horrible Verizon DSL service (Lynnwood,
WA area) anymore, and switched over to Speakeasy.net. But I am still a
Verizon.com customer, since they own my copper - local phone lines.
For more than two months I haven't been able to stop them from ...
