Trouble activation DSL ---- Please help30 Oct 2003 03:53 GMT1
I have dial-up service through Earthlink. I tried opening a DSL
account with them and after a month of going in circles, they said
they could not activate the DSL because some other provider had
already activated DSL on that line. I have no recollection of having
Backup Connection28 Oct 2003 23:56 GMT9
I'm planning to go to DSL, and I'm also buying a new system. Would it be
useful to have a dial-up connection for backup, or is it just a waste of
money?

Here it is in the shortest form possible:
I work alone in an office setting. They have DSL at my work, but
they moved it and It is LOCKED UP in now. I have no access to the DSL
modem of theirs.
Missing Menu on the D-Link DSL-604+27 Oct 2003 14:28 GMT4
I am using a D-Link DSL-604+ with my broadband account and am very
happy with it except that I cannot get a video+audio conference with
messanger working correctly: I get some audio and some video but not
all in both directions. I was hoping that uPNP would just fix all
DSL Router Needed25 Oct 2003 20:41 GMT4
I currently have a DLink 614+ Wireless Cable/DSL router.
When I connect to the Internet through it, I get a max of about 1
megabit in transfer speed when I'm connected by myself.  When I connect
all of the computers in the office, the speed drops significantly, even
Setting up a web server24 Oct 2003 18:53 GMT4
I'm looking to put together a dedicated web server for a dozen domains that
I own.  Currently they are hosted elsewhere, with about 3 to 4 GB traffic
per month total with most of that traffic from two of the domains.  Many
dynamic pages using SSI and Perl CGI, plus SSL will be ...
Problem getting service22 Oct 2003 20:11 GMT1
I have had a frustrating month dealing with trying to get service in
the Atlanta area.
I had originally ordered service from Earthlink - this would be my
preferred vendor. After several days of trying, I was informed by
how to read configurato parameters from 3060 internal dsl modem?22 Oct 2003 08:00 GMT2
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this.
I have been very happy with my Speedstream 3060 with Win-XP on Bellsouth
ADSL.  I now want to play with Linux and find there is no 3060 driver for
Linux and never will be.  Bellsouth wants to sell me an external modem for

Arescom 800 MSN vs "not MSN"19 Oct 2003 06:46 GMT3
I wonder what's the difference (if any) between a plain Arescom 800
DSL router, and one with the "MSN" logo stamped in the case?.
I read the MSN units came pre-configured with lots of restrictive
settings (NAT disabled, password locked, etc). But is it technically
Need help setting up server with a router18 Oct 2003 23:04 GMT1
I'm trying to set up a Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy dedicated server.  I
have all the tools necessary and can join the server when I type in
the IP address, but other's can't.  I use Zoomtown and have a Phoebe

DSL - Splitters = Low Speed, old phone jacks17 Oct 2003 21:25 GMT2
If you are having trouble with speed on DSL you might try just
swapping your phone jack out for a new one.  I reccomend Radio Shack
cat. 279-448.  It has two jacks one you can filter for your phone and
one for a straight shot to your DSL modem with no filter.
Should be doable, but how?16 Oct 2003 23:36 GMT4
Admitedly, I'm probably trying to do something strange, but surely I'm
missing something.
I just moved to the U.K. and own a Linksys BEFSR41 broadband router.
The question is, WHAT THE HELL do I plug this thing into? I know that
DSL Router adding ping times14 Oct 2003 12:26 GMT1
I have a DLink ADSL router setup on your typical (well, not really)
home network. The problem I have since moving to a router (previously,
it was an internal ADSL modem) is that I now seem to have a minimum
ping time of ~200ms to anything external. This created a major pain in
Basic Router Security Question14 Oct 2003 07:43 GMT6
I just bought a new Dell Inspiron 8600 notebook computer with a Dell
TrueMobile 1400 wireless miniPCI card. Dell threw in a free TrueMobile
2300 wireless router. I originally thought that the router would be a
throw-away and planned on buying a LinkSys wireless router, but upon
