A neighbor was wonder if SBC/Ameritech forces you
to only use their domain name for email addresses -
ie -
can he use his normal company email address for return,

I've upgraded my STH to the Pro version, and have turned it into a

Here's the story:
PC connected with DSL service supplied PPPoE connection software to
Router which also has an IP phone on it. Both work fine - without
having the password in the Router.

I've had DSL service from Verizon (GTE) in Los Angeles since 1999
using an Orkit FastInternet ADSL Modem.  About two weeks ago the LAN
Ethernet controller in the Orkit started to fail (many DNS failures).

I have an DSL connected XP machine at home and a TCP/IP W2k machine at
work.  I believe if I can get my PPPoE connection to ping my TCP/IP
connection and visa versa, I can get RealVNC to work.  What can I do
before I screw something up?

My aDSL has always had excellent download and upload speeds.  Recently, I
had some sort of "crash".  After I recovered, I found that although my
_download_ speed was still excellent, about 900Kbs, my _upload_ speed has

I'm getting frustrated, now that it's been 2 years and Verizon still doesn't

My ISP has just started blocking Ping and Tracert and I have 2 problems.
Firstly , I use a dynamic IP DNS server which maps my chosen domain name to
the current IP ( we get dynamic IP addresses from our IP ). This no longer
