Booting up safe mode?31 Jul 2003 16:08 GMT1
This is probably a dumb question, but how do I boot up my computer in
safe mode? I have a Compaq Presario with the Windows 98 operating
system. Yesterday, I tried holding down the Contol key when it was
booting up. When I did that, it gave me the option of booting up (by

Your help is appreciated.
Verizon DSL Boston (burb) questions...29 Jul 2003 21:01 GMT3
Hi, just moved to the Boston burbs (Waltham) and found that one can
get DSL with verizon for something like $35/mo (doesn't sound bad).  I
do have a few questions (and had a b*tch of a time getting answers
while i don't use thier service) since i am a DSL/broadband newbie
Verizon DSL, winXP, outgoing email and some web sites not working29 Jul 2003 18:41 GMT4
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you have.  I recently installed
verizon DSL on a winXP pc (westell dual connect, USB modem connection
with 3 lit lights, no router), and it seems to work reasonably well
overall.  Most web sites work fine, and I can receive email using
Testing the presence of DSL signal with an oscilloscope29 Jul 2003 16:38 GMT8
Can you test for the presence of DSL signal on your phone line with an
ordinary 100MHz scope?  If so what do I look for?
Thanks
Remote networking to westell wirespeed28 Jul 2003 22:50 GMT3
I am trying to connect to a LAN that uses adsl with a static IP, from
a remote location,  and logon to my server and be a part of the LAN.
If amyobne has any good tech help,  that would be great.
Thanks, Ted
Verizon DSL28 Jul 2003 14:26 GMT4
I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and recently received the DSL installation
kit from Verizon.
I have a Compaq computer with Windows 98SE and an Ethernet card. Verizon
provided a Westell WireSpeed DSL modem and a CD-ROM with MSN 8 on it. After I
Not connecting to d-link DI-804 Router28 Jul 2003 02:11 GMT2
I can't connect to the DI-804 Router I borrowed from my brother. I've
set up a network with 2 computers on one side and a cable modem on the
other side. The config's have worked when I've done it before, but now
everything I try seems useless.
DSL-Modem für *Uplink* gesucht26 Jul 2003 16:25 GMT3
Hallo zusammen,
DSL-Modems für den normalen Downlink gibt's ja wie Sand am Meer. Aber
bietet jemand das auch für die umgekehrte Richtung an?
(Genauer bräuchte ich ein Pärchen an Modems, also: Master + Slave zur
Comcast vs. Verizon DSL26 Jul 2003 13:47 GMT14
It wasn't long ago that I thought Verizon DSL was doomed. ATT Broadband was
blowing it away. They both cost around $50/mo. I always felt the price point
for Broadband to take off was under $30. Then, Verizon must have hired a
real marketing guru. Suddenly, what was once a TIP and ...
Sharing DSL Connection for Home Network25 Jul 2003 17:47 GMT3
I have DSL coming into a modem and then into our main computer (win 98
SE), but now it has become necessary to share this connection with two
other laptops through wireless cards. I think what I need to do is get
an Ethernet DSL modem, and have both the desktop (already has an
Verizon Now Censors Their News Group25 Jul 2003 07:56 GMT15
Spectacular arrogance!
I have been their DSL customer since the Manhattan beta test. I
simply asked how Covad stacked up to VOL. Some nitwit from VOL
decided that the post was OT.
Advice Needed - Whole House Splitter For DSL22 Jul 2003 17:27 GMT7
I am having a home telephone installer setup a home run from the NID

requesting a dedicated DSL outlet, and a new voice outlet.
Can anyone recommend a moderately priced whole house splitter, to be
Where to find ISDN Information?22 Jul 2003 13:37 GMT17
I've about given up on DSL since it will be years before it's available out
here in the sticks (25 miles west of Forth Worth, Texas) and cable is not
available, either, so ISDN looks to be my only reasonably priced option for
faster internet access.  I have a next door neighbor that ...
