My cable modem has been a bit flaky lately. My TV pictures have been acceptable but the modem drops in and out. The modem signal is usually around -8 or -9db, the signal to noise ratio is usually around 31, and the upstream power is in the high 40s.

I am doing 4 floors of a 4 flat with cable, telephone, and cat 6 for data cabling. i am going with the leviton SMC panels with all the accessories. But I can't seem to find anything that is compatable with the panel for cat6. I need a termination block and a switch.

What's the best technique to affix 6-strand indoor/outdoor fiber cable to a 1" mostly horizontal metal pipe? Is a simple loop with a tie wrap just fine? Are two loops (like a figure 8) overkill?

I recently moved into an apartment which is, according to the manual that came with it, "prepared for a home network". There are some RJ45 jacks installed and Cat 5 UTP cables run in the walls but the cables are not terminated to the jacks. So I thought I'd do that myself, but
