| Terminators? Why aren't they required as they are with a coaxial system? | 28 Jun 2006 00:53 GMT | 18 |
If I were to connect computers together using coaxial cable and BNC connectors, I would have to ensure a terminator is fixed at either end to prevent reflections up and down the line. Why are the not needed using twisted pair into RJ45?

I'm going to be running several 50 pair buried CAT5 cable drops for a new install and it just occurred to me - will I have problems punching down a 25 pair side to a 66M or 110 block. I've done it before, but never gave a thought if I'm loosing any data cable integrity.

I'm looking to buy a new (new to me, that is...) test set for POTS work. I like the TS44 Deluxe with its data protection feature and speakerphone, but I seem to see more TS22's in use (mostly by the telco techs). Comparison charts are quite common:

| Cat 6 STP distance limitation | 21 Jun 2006 20:07 GMT | 10 |
What is the distance limitation on Category 6 Shielded Twisted Pair? I will need it to support 100 mbps and 1gbps. The cable is already in, and I did not choose to use it. I just want to make sure it's going to work.
