Finishing basement, suggestion on RG6 cable needed31 Jan 2006 03:32 GMT38
So I'm finishing my basement, and am running all the data/com lines.  Obviously
I want the best cable I can afford for future-proofing (if there is such a
thing).
I can't decide between a single RG6 for everything (satellite and cable TV), or
Coax Grounding Requirements30 Jan 2006 13:28 GMT2
I have been asked to audit a telco closet in a large residence that is
having problems in their entire infrastructure--Cat5, power, audio, video,
security, etc.  The Cat5 installation was obviously not performed up to
standards (bend radius violations, extreme tension, tight wire ...

Hi - I have a small four port switch/ADSL router in one room, and a PC

How's your cable removal business?19 Jan 2006 17:40 GMT19
The year is 2005, and the new National Electrical Code is officially out,
and the 2002 edition moved up the ladder into field use. So, it is now
really-really required to remove those abandoned cables (or tag them "for
future use"). Has anyone been successful in selling this idea to ...

They've gotta go!  A pair of Greenlee 683 screw-type spool jacks.
Extend from 22" to 54", twin  rollers bearings.  Very good condition..
Shut down my business a little over a year ago to fly full time and
these things have been collecting dust ever since.
Best Way To Bundle Cat5?19 Jan 2006 02:44 GMT8
I'm re-cabling my entire house with 2- CAT5 and 2- RG6 lines to each
drop. I'm planning on buying individual spools, instead of the
pre-bundled cable to save on costs.  What is the best material to
bundle/wrap/bind these lines together between the panel and the end of

Direct-Bury Fiber Solution?05 Jan 2006 00:59 GMT1
I need to link two LANs on a farm that are about 1500-2000 feet apart.
They don't have line-of-sight, due to trees.  I can trench a cable, but
I'd prefer not to have to use conduit.  Do any companies make a
direct-bury fiber solution that would work over this distance?
