LC Dual mode fiber cables, I need some help/info29 Sep 2004 21:52 GMT3
I am needing to connect two devices using LC dual mode cables.  I am not
familiar with LC connectors/technology.  I have pulled and terminated many,
many ST MM cables using anaerobic glue on connectors at my work but have
never even seen an LC cable end.
Manual for link tester "FA-373"29 Sep 2004 20:22 GMT1
I'm going to test new network cabling (CAT 6) in my house. I got a
link tester without a manual and don't know how to use ist. There is
no manufacturer or brand noticed whom I could contact, except of the
stamp "FA-373 E & F". I put an image of the box to my homepage, see
Price per drop28 Sep 2004 00:57 GMT4
Can anyone give me a general idea of a price per drop for cat5e network
installation Jack to Patch Panel termination and certified?  I don't
normally do this kind of work but need to know for a current project what I
should expect when I have it bid out.
Crimper stuck closed ??? (Embarassing :( )28 Sep 2004 00:05 GMT3
On my first RG-6 crimp using heavy duty gs-91 hexagonal crimper the
crimper seems suck in the closed position ?  I have tried using pliers
to pull it apart with no luck... Am I SOL ?
Shielded Cat5e for Gigabit Ethernet20 Sep 2004 16:36 GMT3
We're bring in a machine (IBM) and they are insisting on shieleded cable
for the Gig ethernet connections.  Their argument is for FCC emination
requirements.  We will be connecting to Cisco 65xx 10/100/1000 modules.
My question:
Sample Request For Bid (RFB) for data/telecom cable plant16 Sep 2004 14:41 GMT2
Our company is building a new building and I have the rather unique
(for me) opportunity to build a new network from the ground up.  I am
a layer 2/3 person, so can do the switching design for both data and
IP phones, but I get a little shakey on the cable plant specifications
DIY Ethernet15 Sep 2004 20:32 GMT5
I'm wiring my new construction for ethernet (Cat5e).  In order to save
myself time I want to use the holes already drilled by the
contractors.  Is it okay to run ethernet through the holes that have
the high voltage wiring running thru them?  Is this something that
F-CONN BNC cable insertion?14 Sep 2004 13:30 GMT1
I picked up some F-Conn RG6Q BNC ends for a project. I'm having the
hardest time actually pushing the stripped cable end into one and
having the center pin extend fully before the crimp is done. I've
wasted 5-6 of these now.
Cat 5/Cat 313 Sep 2004 16:25 GMT8
Can anyone tell me if the faceplace / RJ 45 socket units for Cat 3
cabling would be suitable for reuse in a Cat 5 installation?  (I
realise that the cable is different, but I am wondering if the wall
sockets are).

500' Ethernet Segment Over RG6--Possible? Practical?12 Sep 2004 15:43 GMT13
We have a client with a requirement to extend their Internet access
from their home to their business office in a barn approx. 500 feet
away through the woods. They are on a very tight budget.
They have a run of unused RG6 coax buried between the end points.

comms cabinet in another part of the building, they have put a fiber
Convert old Coax RG59/6 to Cat 5 while wiring house -- possible?06 Sep 2004 07:06 GMT9
This probably isn't possible, but I thought I'd ask anyway.  I'm
rewiring my home for cable TV and broadband for each room, and I was
wondering if there was anyway to convert standard CATV to run over Cat
5/6 cable as opposed to RG59/6.  I'm not up on how the signals go over
Long patch cables vs. patch panel05 Sep 2004 20:59 GMT4
I have two rows of servers and fiber must come from one row to another
row to connect to the core switch. Does anyone know if the standards
dictate wheather I should use 35' patch cables to connect accross rows
or use a patch panel and short patch cables? I think using a patch
