Speed of cable vs. dsl vs T1?30 Sep 2005 18:25 GMT32
I am looking at speeds for cable, dsl, and T1. I think I have it right based
on my reading. But I was not sure if I might be making a mistake about the

sb5120 vs sb510027 Sep 2005 20:35 GMT4
I noticed that the current "on the shelf"  Motorola modem is the sb5100 and
my ISP has the sb5120. The little bit I could find about the difference is
that a different chipset is used in the sb5120. Is the sb5120 an actual
replacement for the sb5100 or maybe just a lower cost unit ...

I have a 3 year old Best Data CMX110 cable modem. Recently my ISP upped the
connection speed to 6000 Kp/s. I can consistently connect 2300 - 3300 Kp/s.
Is one modem better than another? Would a newer modem improve my speed? I
realize not all sites can utilize the speed of my ISP ...

IPv6 & Comcast25 Sep 2005 00:30 GMT1
I'm doing a school project on IPv6 and mobile computing.  To get my
feet wet with IPv6, I was wondering if anyone has been able to
configure their Comcast service to use it.  What about maybe using an
OpenBSD PF box to achieve this...any thoughts on that?  I've done

Cable Splitter Specs17 Sep 2005 08:45 GMT12
The previous Comcast "installer" showed up with a two-way splitter that
had the appearance of being mass-purchased at a Chinese garage sale. No
indications as to bandpass  or to db losses in each output.  Anyway, he
was unable to complete the high-speed Internet connection, and ...
