My son has a 700 mhz AMD Athlon, 256 MB Ram, 30G Seagate HD, and is running Windows XP home SP2. The computer begins to start up but only gets to a screen that says Award Bootblock Bios V1.0 at the top of the screen. It then says Bios Checksum error detecting

Any reason to use an nvidia video card with an nvidia chipset mobo (like the 8RDA+) instead of an ATI? I'm running at ATI with my VIA-based 8KHA+ and there's a certain comfort level in having compatible video cards in 2 machines in case one runs into trouble and one has to start ...

The failing caps on my 8RDA+ are apparently causing the voltage fluctuations I'm seeing. The refurbs say they have all new caps. Are they essentially as good as new then?
