I've installed one of those yesterday ( A7S8X-MX), had loads of problems,
especially with the FSB (I eventually read the FAQ on the vendor's wensite,
and the manual had the settings wrong).
No wonder I couldn't understand why the Duron I put in would boot when set

I've got an A7N8X-X with an AMD 3000+ with 400 speed DDR RAM (PC 3200).
Is there a chart somewhere showing what to set the FSB & the CPU multiplier
to to obtain the clock freq the CPU is designed to run at?  I know the AMD
3000+ runs a lot slower than 3G.

I'm looking to upgrade a PC for a friend, and haven't built an AMD box
before.  I'm looking for something midrange - no gaming, good quality
- and not too expensive, but it doesn't need to be ultra-cheap either.
He'll be running XP, and re-using lots of his old components, but

I know this sounds silly, but  I have  this  project on my hands.
I have on a new  P4C800-E Deluxe main board and  an oldish
hard drive with fresh installed Windows XP Pro on it.

Which board and cpu would most here recommend?  A board used for internet
access and some cpu intensive apps, not a system for hard core gaming.

I'm having problems burning CDs, so I first checked the mode that the
drives are running in. I have two drives attached to the secondary IDE
channel:

I have a P4C800-E Deluxe and want to update my drivers for the
P875 chipset.  The current drivers are 2 years old now.
I use Windows 2000.  Is this the right drivers for my ASUS board?
IATA51.EXE and INFINST_AUTOL.EXE ?

I have a Asus K8N-E Deluxe.  I've heard that there can be issues with some
motherboards when using Cool'n'Quiet with 2 x DIMMs.  So if I get another
1GB stick, would this be the case with my motherboard?

When using Pivot Pro on the A7N8X-E board, there were no problems.  Now when I install it
into the new A8N-SLI board, I get the Blue-Screen-Death on reboot.  I have the same
monitor Samsung SyncMaster 910T
Could it be something in the display chip?

I have just installed 2 more 1GB DIMMs (Kingston) into my system.  Boot shows 4 GB, but
Cool Beans, Sandra Lite, & Belarc show only 3GB

A8N-SLI Premium; Where is a good place to buy from?
I previously bought from TCComputers - which is now bought by Insight,
and overpriced.   I previously bought from Tiger, but Global Computers
bought them a long time ago and I haven't had good luck with them.

I jumped at a chance to upgrade my P4B-based system with a 2.6 GHz
processor.  The board is running BIOS 1012.  Asus' support site shows this
processor is supported, but the latest downloadable manual only has the DIP

The temps reported on my new A8N-SLI Premium right, but I'm hoping
someone can share his experience with me.
I get these temperatures from three places:  BIOS Hardware Monitor, Asus
Probe, and nVidia Monitor.

I am a complete newbie system builder, and just finished putting

drive shows up in bios, but when runnin win xp set up does not see the
drive, any ideas?
