I use the computer and the Net on a regular basis but I don't know a whole lot about it all, especially when it gets technical.  I have an Acer Aspire AM5100-U5300A.  I would like to speed this computer up, I would like a very good grasphics card without spending a fortune. Once ...
Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0 - no numbers?31 Dec 2009 06:50 GMT1
The new Thunderbird 3.0 mailbox doesn't allow for numbers next to each
folder:  i.e. Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash, etc. ?
The previous versions allowed each folder to sum the total of items in
each, conveniently reminding when each was getting too full?

Eudora21 Jun 2008 12:16 GMT1
We thought we'd try the latest Eudora.  Apparently it is now done by
Mozilla.  Didn't like it and uninstalled.  But now there is a new column
in the email headers in TB which indicates the word "read" for every
email that has been read.  And when we minimize TB then maximize it . ...

"TLB parity error in virtual array; TLB error 'instruction"?08 Mar 2010 16:21 GMT5
Lately, I have been random and rare kernel panics on my old Debian/Linux
box (tried both Kernel versions 2.6.30 and 2.6.32). I couldn't figure
out what it was until I discovered mcelog a couple days ago, and it
revealed interesting scary datas in my dmesg/messages and syslog:

Why a 64 bit CPU when all my software is 32 bit?13 Feb 2010 20:49 GMT5
Just asking.
What does a 64 bits system get me when none of my software or OS knows
about 64 bits and the aggregate memory demand doesn't come near 2GB
physical memory and 3GB in a new system will be plenty.
Dual Core 2.10GHz: What is actual clock speed for each core?13 Feb 2010 14:11 GMT2
I have an amd athlon 64 x2 dual core 4000+ 2.10GHz processor. Does
that mean each core runs at 2.10GHz? Or is 2.10GHz split between the
two cores (i.e., resulting in maximum clock speed of 1.05GHz for each
core)? TIA.

numa question for xeon 550019 Feb 2010 22:03 GMT12
I am wondering what the maximum malloc size is, when working in a dual

ram installed. For example, each 5500 having 8gb of ram, could you do a
single malloc of 10gb?
