I just bought one of these all in one printers and i made the great mistake
of putting the color cartridge in the blank ink slot vice versa. now i cant
get either one out . i'm looking at the manual and following instructions
but they wont budge.
Short of a sledgehammer is there another remedy?

Hmmm, difficult. I don't recommend the sledgehammer!
I have seen this once or twice and have had to remove the covers and sometimes
the carriage to get the printheads out.
If you are not confident to do this then your choices are either gentle
leverage with a small screwdriver or a repair shop. There may well be a plastic
ledge in the carriage which is jamming the heads in and leverage can do
permanent damage if you are not very careful.

Thanks for esponding.
I can get to the cartridges, they are all the way over to the right. i can
physically grab them but they seem to be locked into position somehow.

See Bob Headrick's response. It hadn't occurred to me that it may be a warranty
claim. That is the best option for you.

NEVER REFILL CARTS.  RETURN THE PRINTER AND BUY A CANON MP780 IF YOU
MUST HAVE A MF PRINTER.

I don't recommend self-help.  Take it to an authorized HP repair shop
in your community.  Removing the cartridges is a minor thing and the
charge should be very minimal.

Call HP at 1-800-HPINVENt.  This should be covered under warranty.
