Hi...

Is there a way to image the content of a hard disk to another without
losses?

I mean I can reinstall Vista, but I hate starting all over again.
But if I connected the old hard disk to one computer, is there a way to
transfer all content to the new one mounted in another computer.
Is thee a free image utility out there somewhere?
Anyone having any experience with Driveimage XML?

Many new harddrives do have imaging software avail free with the drive...
so check that first. (If the software was not included with the drive, check
the mfg's website)

otherwise:

I recommend Acronis True Image.

They have a 30 day free trial...and there is a good  chance you'll like it
so much you'll buy it.

That's a good recommendation.  I'll just add that Seagate and Maxtor
both have branded versions of TrueImage available for download on their
website.  If either of your drives, the old or the new, is one of those
brands you're golden.  If not, it might work anyhow.

I think you right...

This is a once in a few years happening for me, and using $50 is a bit much,
since I already use the free MS SyncToy to back up the pc's on my LAN.

hmm... have to think it over....hmmf..

I recommend dumping Vista.  Replace it with a free Linux, such as
Ubuntu (try ubuntu.com), or even back down to Windoze XP.  See the
