the nvida 7600gt 256mb pcie edition supports resolutions up to 2560x1600.
i am not sure that is the card that came with your dimension e520 but with
the service tag number in hand you can visit support.dell.com and look up
the original system configuration...

the hp2207 is a nice monitor and excellent value right now for about $250
(refurbished) at hp shopping.com.  it is overall smaller than the hp2207h
despite the same screen size.  it has a dvi port as opposed to the hdmi port
on the hp2207h which requires you to supply a dvi to hdmi cable if you only
have a dvi connector on your graphics card.
