Hi,

I own a 9100 Laptop since app. 2 years and was quite happy with it.
Since some month now the system is no more possible to show dvd`s or
too burn them aso.
The system slows down to 486 speed after some minutes so that dvd
looking is a pic by pic fun and burning a thing for some hours. Othe
operations are also this slow.
When cooling down the system and reboot the speed is normal for one or
2 minutes and after that everything happens again. I changed the bios
rom version from a06 to a04 and back again without any result. I have
2 pieces of 512mb ram wich I tried in any combination single and
together.
I don`t know what else to try or what to do.
If anybody could give me any hint I would be very happy!!

thx in advance

best

Kai

Seems to be a software problem.
Are you using XP's own DVDburning feature?
I would use Nero6 or Nero7 instead .

If it doesnot help, your softwaresystem might be sick for some reason.
Backup all your data , emails, favorites etc.
Wipe your system and make a fresh reinstall of XP + SP2

Hi,

thx very much for your fast reply.
What I forgot to tell (so sorry for that) is, that I tried a new
installation of xp on a different partition of the hd which gave me
the same result...
It was my first Idea that xp would be the reason but it does`nt seem
to be.

best

Intel chips slow themselves down when they get too hot - could it be
that the fan has failed, so it's overheating ?

It might be worth getting a can of compressed air and giving it a good
blast to ensure all the vents are all clear :-}
