Just purchased a Dimension E520, and I'm not excited, it's just such a
hassle to set it up and transfer everything from the old PC. I
suspect lots of folks would buy computers way more often if this
process was easier...

I am more excited by a laptop vs. a desktop purchase. Right now
though laptops don't even interest me that much. I think so many
types of technology are becoming "good enough".

If you think that's a hassle, think of those who build computers from
scratch, starting with research for the most suitable components and
peripherals, shopping for them and then assembling the box. Installing
Windows and all of the applications is no quick course either. The easy
part is really transferring and loading the data, picture, document,
etc., files...it is done from backup.
But there is the added satisfaction of having built a system, even for
those who work in the field. Priceless. <:-}}
