Hi,

I installed Win98 SE on a Compaq Presario 4506 (P1-200MHz MMX).
In Device Manager there is an unknown device (most likely the 56K modem).
Win98SE isn't able to find any suitable driver, I have just plain Win98SE
disc.

Any clues?
If you have a Win98SE driver please mail it to me at:
R-E-M-O-V-Ej.janssen7@home.nl

TIA,

Here is a Win 98 driver. Dunno if it will work for SE:

Note the requirements carefully.

Thx for  responding.

I already checked out this d/l.
It's a 56K / V90 upgrade, not a driver.
The upgrade refused 'Can't find a modem to upgrade'.
So either wrong device or already upgraded, I don't know.
(Modem = DFi-336)

Maybe drivers came with original Compaq CD.
I'll replace it with a true 56K model.

Nope. The upgrade is a hardware upgrade, a daughterboard that plugs into the
modem and turns it into a 56K modem. Go with a good V90/92 modem with SE
drivers.
