I'm not able to get to a boot-up (nor safe mode) when I turn on the
power-up buttuon. I hear consecutive beeps in the same
pitch ........how many???????? ,

I stopped counting after 20 ...on a continuous steady beat and I had
to turn off by the same button.

The cost for troubling shooting at the " shop" rates almost makes me
think about buying a new system.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, folks.

A few seconds at Google got this.

Note the other brand BIOSs on the left if yours is not Award.

Shut off the power at the back, pull the memory stick, and see if you get
the same beep code with no memory present.

"For what's worth on my A7V continuous beeps mean "memory not detected""

That site has a search page - but you have to set "Max Age Since Last Post"
to 2000 days, to get more results.
