The following is a link to ASUS' driver for the A7N266-VM for Win2K /
WinXP:
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/nforce220/a7n266-vm/245.zip
It is a 25.54MB download. The Description for this driver is:
A7N266-VM Inf, VGA, Audio, LAN combined driver V 2.45 for Win2000 and WinXP.
nVidia provided and combined it with Inf, VGA, Audio, LAN driver.
It looks like it was the last driver posted by ASUS, October 9, 2003, for
this motherboard since there doesn't appear to be anything more recent.

Homer:
Have located the source of the problem. I was trying to install a GPS
receiver (in a USB port) which, it turns out, seems to require its own
specific driver as I finally located it on some accompanying software MS
Streets & Trips.
In any case, thanks for your assistance...........
