I am going to install the OS on a completely new hardware setup this weekend. I will use an older copy of pre-SP1 Windows XP Prof that I will remove from my current PC. My roommate has a volume license copy of Windows XP Prof with SP2 from work. Could I install using his newer CD but enter my product key in order to save time with Windows updates and the recognition of a drive largre than 137 GB? >I am going to install the OS on a completely new hardware setup this > weekend. You could always slip-stream XP SP2 into your copy of Windows XP Pro: - http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sp2_slipstream.asp This way use can use your CD-Key and not even bother your friend for his copy. XP should recognise drives over 137Gb anyway regardless of Service Pack. What might be giving you problems is your motherboard BIOS. Make sure you have the latest BIOS flashed and you might be in for a surprise. Then again, maybe not if your motherboard just cant address above 137GB. You could always check your motherboard manufacturers website for HD specification.
